Injured, Luca Van Assche withdraws from the Masters 1000 in Rome

Luca Van Assche will not take part in the Masters 1000 in Rome, which takes place from May 8 to 19. The young Frenchman (19 years old, 99th in the world) announced his withdrawal this Thursday on his social networks. The nature of his injury is unknown. “Unfortunately injured, I will not be able to play in Rome as planned next week. I will stay a few days in Paris while I take care of myself,” he wrote. The injury would not be serious.

“I hope to be able to play again very quickly,” he also announced. Van Assche could therefore, before Roland-Garros (May 26 – June 9), compete in the Challenger 175 in Bordeaux (May 13-19) where he is registered, then the ATP 250 in Lyon (May 20-25).
