Incident with Yannick Bru (UBB): Philippe Tayeb (Bayonne) filed a complaint

Philippe Tayeb, the president of Bayonne, filed a complaint this Monday morning, we learned from his lawyer, Me Florence Réau. On the other hand, at this stage, she did not wish to develop and give the reason for this complaint. According to Sud-Ouest, the motive would be the following: “Wilful violence in a sports venue.” This complaint comes after the incident which punctuated the end of the Top 14 meeting between Rowing and UBB, played on April 27 and won by Bordeaux (34-15). As a reminder, at the final whistle of the match, Yannick Bru, the manager of the Bordeaux club, wanted to greet his former president, but the latter refused to shake his hand. In reaction, Yannick Bru – who left Rowing at the end of the 2022 season after four seasons as manager – gave Philippe Tayeb a little slap, or even several, behind the neck.

This incident will be studied by the LNR disciplinary committee which announced last week the opening of an investigation. “At the end of the meeting, the federal representative designated during this meeting reported, in his post-match report, that an incident had taken place between a manager of Aviron Bayonnais Rugby Pro and a member of the staff of the Bordeaux-Bègles Union, we can read in the official press release. The president of the Disciplinary and Regulations Commission (LNR) has decided, to review this matter, to open an investigation. »

The commission asked both parties to complete a file and present their versions. When asked, Yannick Bru did not wish to comment on Philippe Tayeb’s initiative.
