The annual hockey holiday is here and this time it is all the more special that it takes place in the Czech Republic, specifically in Prague at the O² Arena and in Ostrava at the Ostravar Arena. If you don’t have tickets, for which there was enormous interest at least in the case of the Czech and Slovak matches, don’t despair – you still have several ways to watch the matches of not only the Czech national team other than in person at the stadium. In this article we will advise you how to do it.
Czech matches on Czech TV
In the case of the Czech national team, you have a relatively simple first choice – Czech Television. It will offer all transmissions both as part of linear broadcasting and in online form on ČT Sport. In online form or via the red button, you can also access the ČT Sport Plus platform, where you can also find broadcasts of other teams. 34 matches will appear as part of the classic broadcast of ČT Sport, all 64 matches will be broadcast by the public media online as part of ČT Sport Plus.

Another option for watching hockey matches online live is betting offices. They offer their own streams, often with commentary, and are usually not even burdened by regional restrictions, as is the case with Czech Television. On the other hand, if you do not have an account with any bookmaker, you will have to create one, which is a problem for people under the age of eighteen. Watching streams is also conditional on at least one minimum bet. The domestic betting partner of the World Cup is Tipsport, so if you want to be sure to catch all the matches, that’s where you’ll need to head. Bookmakers also have their own apps, so you can watch hockey conveniently even on your phones.

If, for various reasons, the television broadcast does not suit you, there is an option to watch reports online. These will be offered by a number of sports websites during the World Cup, so all you have to do is choose your favorite and watch live coverage of the events that will take place on the ice. The public Czech Radio, of course, also has its own sports editorial office, which will provide live commentary on Czech matches, so you can, for example, have an overview of what is happening on the ice even when traveling by car. Of course, live commentary cannot replace the visual aspect, but in the coming weeks there may be a lot of different situations where you simply won’t be able to watch hockey live on TV or online. The advantage is the possibility to tune into Czech Radio not only through the FM receiver, but also the mobile application Můj rozhlas can be used.
YouTube International Ice Hockey Federation
You can also find interesting and exclusive content on the YouTube platform. In this case, you need to head over to the IIHF channel, where videos that you won’t find anywhere else will appear throughout the World Cup. Although this option does not fully replace watching, it can provide you with additional content in case you do not have enough of it on TV.

This option is suitable for all those who do not like to watch sports matches alone. Live broadcasts of hockey matches will be available not only in sports bars, but also in most pubs and restaurants throughout the Czech Republic. In the past, there was also a large canvas in Prague’s Riegrovy Sady or in the Yellow Spa in Podolí. Fan zones, such as those in Prague’s Harfa shopping center or in Dolní oblast Vítkovice in Ostrava, should not be an exception. In short, there are more options and it depends only on you which one you prefer.
How in Slovakia?
You can also watch hockey in our eastern neighbors for free, either on TV or online. RTVS.sk will take care of the broadcasts under the Tatras, and you can watch the match records in their archive.
