High-Level Chess Tournament Kicks Off Provincial Circuit in Aguilafuente

The municipal premises of Los Lavaderos, in Aguilafuente, hosted on Sunday the opening day of the Provincial Chess Circuit of the Provincial Council, which, with nearly sixty players, many of them minors, closed its celebration with a podium composed by Martín Horcajuelo , Iván Alonso and Luis Carlos Galán, from Alcorcón, Arroyo de la Encomienda and Ávila respectively.

Among the issues highlighted by the Organization of the trophy, which was in its ninth edition, is local participation, which was led by Alejandro Ballesteros and which reached twelve chess players, most of them under fifteen years of age. Furthermore, the fact of having established itself in the sports calendar of the municipality and in the province’s Circuit allowed attendees to enjoy a high-level tournament in which several of its players exceeded 2,000 Fide ELO points.

The next event of the Provincial Chess Circuit, scoring for the Interpueblos tournament, will take place on June 2 in the San Francisco de Cuéllar promenades.

School Sports Calendar

Regarding the School Sports calendar, on Sunday the Pedro Delgado pavilion hosted the provincial Judo final with the participation of 129 athletes, among whom were schoolchildren from the province’s schools IES Peñalara, CRA Los Almendros, CEIP Atalaya, CEIP Arcipreste de Hita, CEIP Santa Clara and CEIP Las Cañadas and the towns of Trescasas, El Espinar, Palazuelos de Eresma, Torrecaballeros, Hontanares de Eresma or Valverde del Majano. Furthermore, on Saturday morning, the surroundings of La Faisanera in Palazuelos de Eresma brought together nearly one hundred and a half minors belonging to more than a dozen Sports Schools in the province, who enjoyed a day of Skating.

The events of the School Games of this course will reach their conclusion this weekend with the celebration tomorrow, Saturday, May 25, of a Rhythmic Gymnastics exhibition in Cuéllar and on Sunday the 26th of the provincial Triathlon final in La Lastrilla.
