Hansi Flick will be the new coach of FC Barcelona, replacing Xavi Hernández. The Barça club announced the non-continuity of the Catalan coach last Friday and in the next few hours it is expected to make the arrival of the former German coach official. Starting in the summer, Flick will be reunited in the culé squad precisely with the person who wore the captain’s armband when they met in the ‘mannschaft’, Ilkay Gundogan. However, The German midfielder’s entourage denied some information who claimed that the Barça club had sounded out the former Manchester City captain about Flick and that the player had suggested that he was a good coach although with a soft character.
Through social networks, Gündogan was chronologically the first player in the Barça squad to thank Xavi for his treatment when the coach’s non-continuity was confirmed. His entourage clarified that Gündogan has not conveyed any opinion about Flick to the club and that if someone had asked him, he would not have done so out of respect for Xavi, who to this day is still his coach.
