Handball: big winner of Créteil, PSG gets a little closer to the title

You shouldn’t doubt him and even less make him angry. A few days after the handball encounter against Nîmes and a defeat which could have had very serious consequences (33-32), PSG regained its strength. And it was his Christian neighbor who bore the brunt of his awakening.

Paris largely won (41-28), with strength, will, seriousness and determination. Direct consequence: Paris regains first place in the championship which Nantes had temporarily stolen from it the day before. The 11th title of French champion once again extends its arms to the Parisians, who have a small point lead in the standings. But it is not yet assured: PSG will still have to win their last meeting, on May 31, at the Accor Arena in front of some 15,000 people.

This will be the last club match for Nikola Karabatic who could at the same time celebrate his 16th national coronation and his jubilee. He would probably have preferred to carry out this last outing without pressure, without obligation of result. This will not be the case: to finish in style, PSG must make one last effort.

But, at the end of this demonstration for the last trip of the Parisian number 44, we are less worried about PSG. When he (again) plays like this, he doesn’t give anyone a chance. Créteil quickly noticed this. Carried by a fiery Elohim Prandi, author of six of the first Parisian goals with his powerful arm, PSG quickly took off so as not to doubt and let their newfound confidence melt away.

“We had a match to win the title”

After ten minutes (8-4), the gap was already significant. The suspense started suddenly: Luka Karabatic’s partners never released their embrace. Incidentally, the captain of the France team had a small scare in the middle of the first period after receiving a violent blow to the face. More fear than harm, fortunately.

The demonstration continued until the end of a match ended in a large and comfortable victory. The Parisian copy is clean, very clean and reassuring. “We took things seriously, we played a match to win the title because we know very well that Nantes is not going to give up anything on its side,” assures Elohim Prandi. We didn’t have the ingredients against Nîmes a few days ago, so we didn’t want to give Créteil any hope. Now we have a big match left for Niko’s jubilee and we will do everything to win this final. »

If it is obviously doing its business, this Parisian victory does not help those of its close neighbor. Créteil will absolutely have to win in a week at Cesson-Rennes to ensure its survival. The fate of the two neighbors will be decided in a match, the last of the season, for opposite reasons.
