Hamilton fastest in first Monaco practice

Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in the first free practice session for the Monaco Grand Prix on Friday. The Mercedes driver won on the narrow street circuit of Monte Carlo in 1:12.169 minutes, just ahead of Oscar Piastri in the McLaren (+0.029) and George Russell in the second Mercedes (0.126).

World champion Max Verstappen, who unlike the fastest drivers was not yet using the soft tires, had to settle for eleventh place (0.815) in the Red Bull. The second free practice session is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. (live on ORF1 and in the live stream). The broadcast begins at 4.45 p.m.
