GZSZ star announces Joshua Kimmich’s nomination

Joshua Kimmich was announced as European Championship driver number 13. Kimmich is an avowed fan of the soap opera “Good Times, Bad Times” on RTL. And it was fitting that Wolfgang Bahro, who has played Hans-Joachim “Jo” Gerner on “GZSZ” since the first episode, took over the nomination from Jo Kimmich.

Bahro, alias Gerner, appeared in a short video on Wednesday morning in the film set of the series in Babelsberg and announced that he had “the honor of naming another national player who will take part in the European Championship.” After a short dramatic pause in which he takes off his sunglasses, Bahro reveals the secret: Kimmich.

The FC Bayern professional and Bahro know each other briefly: they met in Babelsberg during advertising shots for the DFB selection in November 2017. Kimmich asked the actor for a photo, which he posted on his Instagram profile with the title “Legend”.

The 29-year-old has played 84 international matches (six goals) and has been in the German squad at every tournament since the 2016 European Championship. He is placed as a right-back under Julian Nagelsmann. The national coach will present his provisional squad for the European Championships (June 14th to July 14th) on Thursday (1 p.m.) in Berlin.

Nominated so far:

GOAL – Manuel Neuer

DEFENSE – Joshua Kimmich, Robin Koch, Maximilian Mittelstädt, Nico Schlotterbeck, Jonathan Tah

MIDFIELD – Robert Andrich, Chris Führich, Pascal Groß, Aleksandar Pavlovic
