The situation, which Coppola says led to the rejection of his visa, occurred in 1996 in the apartment he had at 3540 Avenida del Libertador, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Palermo. After finding said substance, the judge determined that he should be detained immediately. The charge for which he was accused was of being the leader of an alleged drug organization.

After a few hours in which the manager looked for a lawyer and outlined his strategy, he turned himself in before the commissioner a day later, while the TV was broadcasting live and a cell phone accompanied him throughout the journey inside the car. Upon arrival, Coppola was put in a cell and allowed to bathe. But one of his executioners appeared on the scene, police officer Daniel Diamante, who commanded the uniformed group that carried out the raid on his apartment.

Guillermo was in the shower when Diamante surprised him again and ripped out the pipe with the faucet in a rush. Enduring the cold and unable to finish showering, he dried himself as best he could while the non-commissioned officer insulted him and remarked that his joke was over, that he was going to rot in prison and that he would not be able to take any more “good stuff.” because they – the police – were taking it all.

Then he walked through the corridors towards the cell that had been assigned to him, actually an office set up so that he would not cross paths with the rest of the prisoners. The inmates were furious because they had been “gummed” – locked up – so that Coppola could bathe and nothing would happen to him. He had slept on a mattress full of bedbugs and woke up with a rash all over his body.
