The Oberwart Gunners and UBSC Graz are contesting the final of the men’s Basketball Super League (BSL). The Burgenlanders celebrated a wafer-thin 70:69 (35:39) away win against the Traiskirchen Lions on Wednesday and thus won the “best of five” series 3:2.

The second play-off semi-final between Graz and the Klosterneuburg Dukes was only decided in the fifth and all-important game. The Styrians prevailed away against the number one team in the regular round with 81:72 (40:34).

The first duel of the “Best of Five” final series will take place on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Graz. The Styrians are in the championship final for the first time in their 47-year history. It is the Gunners from Oberwart’s tenth final appearance and they are aiming for their third championship title after their triumphs in 2011 and 2016.
