Gerónimo Avaro Shines at National Apertura Judo Championship

Geronimo Avaroone of the young promises of the judo local, competed in the National Apertura Judo Championship which took place in Villa Carlos Paz, from May 2 to 5.

The man from Rio Cuarto who trains at the academy Baduy Judo what works in the club Central Argentino made its debut in a new category at the national level. He was a member of the Children’s “B” division, which goes up to 14 years old, when he was only 12 years old.

Avaro lost in the quarterfinals in the competition held in Calos Paz and finished in 12th place out of 26 judokas who participated.

Avaro had just competed in an interprovincial contest in Cinco Saltos, Río Negro.

“He won the first round against a boy from Santa Cruz and then lost against a guy from Tucumán who came third. It is his first year in children’s B, he is 12 and the category is Under-14. Last year he placed third at the national level in U-12“, he commented to Al Toque Sports su sensei, Habib Baduyand added: “He fought very well against bigger guys, he still needs to grow. The balance is good for having placed 12th out of 26 judokas in the category”.

Gerónimo will have two big objectives ahead of him this year. One will be the Central Republic Championship in the middle of the year, a tournament in which he already participated in 2023, and the Closing National Championship which will take place at the end of the year in the province of Jujuy.
