The German judo hopefuls Anna-Maria Wagner and Alina Böhm are getting into shape before the season’s highlights. At the Grand Slam in Dushanbe/Tajikistan, both fought their way to the final in the weight class up to 78 kg – with Wagner (Ravensburg) coming out on top. The world champion and Olympic bronze medalist from 2021 won the third shido for the two-time European champion Böhm (Heubach).

“The victory is simply another step in the right direction,” said Wagner (27), who won European Championship silver ahead of Böhm (25) in mid-April: “I’m fit and so I’m going to the World Cup.” It will take place in Abu Dhabi/United Arab Emirates from May 19th. The big goal of the season is the Olympic Games in Paris (from July 26th).

Losseni Kone (Alstertal-Langenhorn), who won bronze in the heavyweight division, also put in a strong performance in Dushanbe. The 23-year-old only had to admit defeat to the French world champion Teddy Riner and took bronze. Erik Abramov (Potsdam) came in seventh.
