Georgie Campbell (36†): Eventing rider dies after fall

British rider Georgie Campbell has died after a serious fall at the eventing tournament in Bicton. This was announced by the umbrella organization British Eventing. She was only 36 years old. Her horse Global Quest was examined by the veterinarians on site and was able to be brought back to the stable unharmed.

The organizer wrote: “It is with deep regret that we have to announce that Georgie Campbell (GBR) had a fatal accident while participating in the Bicton International Horse Trials in Devon, England on Sunday 26 May 2024. After her fall at obstacle 5b, medical personnel were immediately on site, but unfortunately she could not be saved.”

The competition was cancelled after the fatal accident. The organisers did not want to release any further details to protect the family’s privacy.

Campbell was an experienced rider, took part in more than 200 competitions and represented Great Britain on several occasions. Since December 2020, she was married to New Zealand rider Jesse Campbell, who competed for his country at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. Together they founded Team Campbell Eventing.
