FSGT Corsica Hosts Multi-Sport Championships in Volleyball and Judo

In this year 2024, the Federal Volleyball Activity Commission has accepted the candidacy of Volley-Ball Bastiais for the organization of these championships and the Corsican Kodokan for judo.

Volleyball in Bastia
The FSGT organizes these French volleyball championships in a 6 x 6 and/or 4 × 4 version, for men, women and mixed. The 6 x 6 federal championship (men’s and women’s) brings together more than a hundred teams on 5 levels of competition, organized over three weekends, a 4 x 4 federal championship (men’s and women’s) and a federal beach championship -3×3 volleyball, organized over a weekend. The 6X6 championship began in January with more than 130 teams entered.
The 2nd round took place on March 23 and the final phases will take place in Corsica and the Bastia region on May 10 and 11. These finals will bring together 42 men’s and women’s teams spread over 11 levels in the gymnasiums of Bastia, Biguglia, Furiani and Lucciana (see attached schedule).
Two island teams qualified to represent Corsica in these final stages: the girls of GFCOA in High Level 1 Women and the boys of Furiani Volley-Ball in Promotion C Men.

The finals of the highest levels will be played at the Pépito-Ferretti gymnasium in Bastia on May 11: 3 p.m. for the women’s high level 1, 6 p.m. for the men’s high level 1, under the watchful eye of international Jean-François Exiga , ex-professional player from Ajaccio, Tours and Cannes. “ Beyond the purely sporting aspect, these championships will also be an opportunity to discover or rediscover Corsica to the more than 500 people who are expected over several days: players, staff, referees, officials, accompanying people, volunteers. Conviviality will not be outdone since all these people will meet on Saturday evening at Belambra for a festive closing evening during which the awards will be awarded. » says Laurent Bonnemaison.

Judo in Calvi
On May 18 and 19 in Calvi, more than 200 participants will compete in the French FSGT judo championships.
The event is organized by Kodokan Corse. Finally, as part of the 90th anniversary of the FSGT, events and activities will be offered on May 19 at the Calvi sports complex by the Corsican FSGT Committee and the Kodokan.
