Frosinone-Inter, result 0-5. Goals from Frattesi, Arnautovic, Buchanan, Lautaro and Thuram

by Paolo Tomaselli, sent to Frosinone

Inzaghi’s team overwhelms Frosinone and the Ciociari’s fight for survival becomes more complicated

Inter returns from the mega Scudetto celebration, restarts the engine after the defeat against Sassuolo and finds the right adrenaline to start winning and having fun again: five goals are an exaggerated punishment for what Frosinone creates in the attacking phase, but they are at at the same time the signal that the Italian champions care about the final 98 points, which would be the club record. Inzaghi is full of good news again: Lautaro returns to goal after more than two months, Buchanan scores for the first time, Arnautovic also sees himself again, while Barella confirms himself as the fittest and coach Spalletti hopes that he will stick to these levels also for the European Championship.

Inter lights up again

With an initial pace typical of summer football, Inter with seven changes compared to the defeat in Reggio Emilia governs Frosinone’s initial outburst and after less than twenty minutes interrupts the unbeaten run of Di Francesco’s team (316′), fresh from six consecutive useful results . The technical limitations of some interpreters, however, weigh heavily and Zortea with a lopsided clearance gives the ball to Barella, who passes it to Dimarco, who does well to find Thuram in the area: on the Frenchman’s cross deflected by a defender, Frattesi arrives, slightly off-beat but effective in the deflection right-footed volley, confirming his sense of goal (there are 6 in the league, one every 140′) not only when he comes off the bench.

Frosinone’s reaction is not so angry, but it is reasoned. And it produces two notable opportunities: Sommer first flies on Brescianini’s shot from outside the area, then watches the crossbar tremble following a shot from Cheddira, too wide on the left and therefore far from the goal in Di Francesco’s initial choices, which were then corrected. Inter are saved, Inzaghi still gives the fans a boost and relies on Barella to manage the yellow waves arriving even at the beginning of the second half: Sommer also clears Reinier, while immediately afterwards Valeri’s diagonal goes just wide. These are small alarms, but they continue for Inter who, with the entry of Cuadrado, concede too much on the right: the Colombian badly loses a ball on the edge of the area and Frosinone’s counterattack ends with a save this time more uncertain by Sommer on Zortea, saved on the line by Frattesi.

Frosinone and salvation: the last points available

The scenario is more than enough to trigger an Inter reaction worthy of the name. Bisseck hits the top of the crossbar with his head and gives the signal for the second goal which arrives shortly after with a great play by Barella, who catches Frattesi in the area, this time in a man-assist version for Arnautovic who only has to place the ball in the net . For Frosinone, fragile in defense but with the best attack among the ten teams on the right side of the table (43 goals), the right train is already far away in the night, even if Di Francesco’s team is still close to scoring, but in response he takes two more: Buchanan with a nice right foot becomes the 18th scorer of the season and then Thuram gets his share of the fun on the counterattack. Frosinone still has the challenge of Monza and the direct clash with Udinese: hoping, at the third attempt, for the first salvation in their history is completely legitimate.
