French women’s team: first call-up for Louna Ribadeira and Inès Benyahia

As we announced to you on Tuesday, Hervé Renard is offering a nice end-of-year gift to Louna Ribadeira. Crowned best hope in D1 during the UNFP trophies, the young attacker from Paris FC (19 years old) is called up for the first time in the French team. A reward obtained thanks to a notable season with 9 goals in 13 starts, in all competitions. The Francilienne also benefits from the absence of Eugénie Le Sommer (knee) in attack.

The Bleues coach called 24 players for this second spring gathering, for the antepenultimate list before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. With another first for Inès Benyahia, OL striker loaned to Le Havre this season. “I almost called him during the previous internship but I didn’t do it. She comes out of an accomplished season, has developed her register,” explains Hervé Renard.

Griedge Mbock, recently injured in the thigh, is absent as a precaution. “It is in the recovery phase,” confirmed Hervé Renard. Just like all the executives of OL or PSG: Wendie Renard, Selma Bacha, Delphine Cascarino, Kadidiatou Diani, Sakina Karchaoui, Grace Geyoro, Élisa de Almeida or Marie-Antoinette Katoto. Amel Majri, absent in April and who had publicly shown her discontent, remains outside the group.

The France team has a meeting with England for a double confrontation, on May 31 in Newcastle and June 4 in Saint-Étienne. Two matches counting for qualifying for Euro 2025. The Blues are, for the moment, first in their group with two successes in two matches against Ireland (1-0) and Sweden (0-1). The English, 2022 European champions, are second after a draw against Sweden (1-1) and a success against Ireland (2-0). The first two nations qualify directly for the final phase of the Euro, organized in Switzerland.
