French Riders Shine at CCI 4*-S in Marbach: Gireg Le Coz Takes the Lead

The CCI 4*-S in Marbach, where no less than seven French couples registered on the long Olympic list “On Horseback for Paris” are entered, began today in the South of Germany.

Fourteen of the forty-nine entered in this competition completed their dressage test, and Gireg Le Coz took the lead alongside Aisprit de la Loge, equally with the Swiss Nadja Minder and Top Job’s Jalisco. The Tricolor and his son of Qupyddam des Horts, who notably presents a beautiful rising balance in most of the galloping exercises, delivered an energetic and rather expressive presentation which earned them 30.1 penalties, the same score as Nadja Minder. Karim Laghouag and Triton Fontaine, for their part, are third with 32 penalties on the clock, while Cyrielle Lefèvre and Ult’Im have 37.1 points, synonymous with provisional ninth place.

“I am very happy with my horse”said Gireg Le Coz. “We had of course practiced this test before, but this was the first time we performed it in competition. Technically, Aisprit knows how to do everything, and I think that today he gave a good presentation, with great energy and a good attitude. Our average is a little lower than those we obtained recently, but the federal staff was happy with our performance and we now have to see if the judges will continue to score according to the same standards. (overall, the points did not seem to increase much today, editor’s note) tomorrow.”
