This is excellent news just under three months before the start of the Paris Olympic Games (July 26 to August 11). The Tricolores achieved a team gold double on Sunday May 12 at the European Archery Championships in Essen (west of Germany).

Led by Jean-Charles Valladont, Thomas Chirault and Baptiste Addis, the French left the Italians no chance in the final, winning 6 to 0 (53-51, 52-50, 57-56), to win the first continental title since 2014. And on the women’s side, Lisa Barbelin, Caroline Lopez and Amélie Cordeau, dominated the Dutch 5 to 3 (55-55, 50-51, 52-51, 52-50) in the final for a European coronation by team, also the first since 2014.

“We gave everything we could in this final and I am very proud of us”rejoiced Lisa Barbelin, individual European champion in 2021 and leader of this French women’s team which has collected international podiums for a little over a year.
In a slightly different configuration (Amélie Cordeau won her place during the internal selections and replaces Audrey Adiceom), they were silver medalists at the European Games and at the Worlds in 2023. They will be candidates for the Olympic team medal on Sunday July 28 on the Esplanade des Invalides in Paris, while the men will also try to get on the podium in the same event, on Monday July 29. “The Olympic Games are achievable! We can do it, we’re going to work hard for it. It’s the final stretch and we’re going to give it our all”underlined Caroline Lopez.
