French Archers Fall Short at Archery World Cup in South Korea

There was no good French surprise at the Archery World Cup in Yecheon (South Korea) as a team this Thursday, nor this Friday as an individual. Lisa Barbelin remained the only French survivor of the 1/32 finals, where she beat the German Christine Schwarz 6-4 (27/28, 29/29.29/27.28/26.29.29). The other Mosellane, Caroline Lopez, lost 6-0 against the Chinese Jingyi Zhu (29/27, 29/28, 26/25) and finished 33rd, like Amélie Cordeau, also out in 1/32.

Lisa Barbelin continued to chart her course this Friday morning, defeating Stéphanie Barrett (Canada) in the 1/16 finals with a wide 7-1 (27/25, 30, 25, 28/28, 28/27). But her road to the podium stopped when she encountered that of the Indian Deepika Kumari who imposed a defeat on her 6-0 (29/26, 29/26, 30/28). The native of Ley finished in 9th place.

A hope of a medal still exists with the pair Lisa Barbelin/Baptiste Addis, who will shoot this Sunday against Spain for the bronze medal, after taking out South Korea in the quarterfinals (6-2, 39/37, 38/39 .38/37, 37/36) then lost 5-4 against Japan in the semi-final (38/36, 36/38, 38/37, 35/37).
