Franco Ciani is no longer the coach of Reale Mutua Basket Torino. In a note, the club and the coach communicated the decision to interrupt their sporting journey. Ciani, originally from Udine, had coached the A2 team since June 2022after leading Gorizia, Cantù, Livorno and Pallacanestro Trieste in the top series in 2004.

“I express my sincere gratitude to Franco for his extraordinary dedication and impeccable professionalism demonstrated over the last two years,” he comments David Avino, president of Basket Torino. “Special applause for the notable successes achieved in the previous season, which solidified our team’s position of excellence. The decision to separate it wasn’t easy at all, considering the respect and admiration I have for coach Ciani’s technical skills. I am also convinced that this decision represents a new push and is the best for the future of Basket Torino”.

“Our work is characterized by cycles that open and are destined sooner or later to close and, after a profound analysis, I have developed, not without difficulty and with great regret, the conviction that my cycle together with Basket Torino was over”, he says Franco Ciani. “The esteem, affection, gratitude and respect towards Basket Torino, President Avino, Reale Mutua and all the sponsors have made this decision necessary but even sadder, especially because we failed to achieve the highest goal and to fulfill the dream of all of us. We will all try again even if on opposite sides and I already know that the match with, and never against, Turin will never be a match like all the others.”
