Fos-sur-Mer Brothers Selected for 2024 Olympic Games in Badminton

End of suspense. The French Badminton Federation has just published its official selection for the 2024 Olympic Games and the two players from Fos-sur-Mer Christo and Toma Junior Popov are part of it!

It was their dream forever and it is coming true. Toma Junior Popov (singles and doubles) and Christo Popov (doubles) will make the Olympic Games this summer in Paris.

They are part of the selection unveiled a few minutes ago by the French Badminton Federation along with Qi Xuefei (singles), Anne Tran (double F), Margot Lambert (double F), Thom Gicquel (mixed doubles) and Delphine Delrue (mixed doubles).

If Toma Junior Popov, vice-European champion in April, was almost certain to be there in singles with his status as French number 1, the doubles was much more uncertain following the imbroglio linked to the calculation error of points from the international federation to the disadvantage of the other French pair Corvée – Labar (see details here).

After their numerous titles won in France and around the world, the two brothers will now try to win the Grail at the Olympics and give a new opportunity to be celebrated by their city of Fos.

The badminton events will take place from July 27 to August 5 at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle in Paris.
