Forty-one-year-old goalkeeper Grigar will leave Teplice footballers after the season

Grigar came to Teplice in January 2009 and became one of the club’s biggest icons. He caught 388 competitive matches for North Bohemia, in which he scored 119 clean sheets. He also won the domestic cup with the Teplice team. In the course of this season, also due to health problems, he lost his number one spot, which Richard Ludha moved to.

“We decided to go the way of rejuvenating the goalkeeper trio. Together with the head coach, we announced it to Tomáš several weeks ago so that he knew what he was up to. We would also like to thank him very much for the sports section for the years spent in Teplice,” said North Bohemia’s sports director Štěpán Vachoušek.

“I would still like to continue my career, so we’ll see what offers come up. But in any case, Teplice will always be in my heart and I will be happy to return to Stínadl,” said Grigar, whom the club will say goodbye to on Sunday in the opening match of the European expansion group final against Hradec Králové. During the ceremony before kick-off, the North Bohemians will name one of the sectors in the auditorium after the goalkeeper, and next season during a duel with Sparta or Slavia, they will ceremoniously retire his number 30.

Before joining Teplice, Grigar worked in Vítkovice and Sparta Prague. He has 376 games in the league. He made two starts for the Czech national team, for which he started in 2009.
