Former New York Yankees Slugger Mike Ford Joins Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds did not miss the opportunity to acquire the services of a former New York Yankees slugger. This is Mike Ford, who could be an interesting bat for the club’s manager, David Bell.

The first baseman signed with the Reds last season on a minor league contract but was granted his release after he failed to make the club’s Opening Day roster out of spring training.

“Mike Ford returns to the Reds, this time with a major league contract”said renowned journalist John Heyman last Wednesday.

Ford began his Major League career with the Yankees in 2019 and spent the first three years of his career with the club. During that span, he appeared in 101 games, hitting 17 home runs and driving in 41 runs.

Since leaving the Bronx, he has bounced around and spent time with the San Francisco Giants, Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels at the Major League level. Now he will have an opportunity with the Reds to improve his career.

Ford was with the Mariners last season and appeared in 83 games and hit a career-high 16 home runs, drove in 34 runs and slashed .228/.323/.475.
