Kassoum Ouattara (52nd) and Youssouf Fofana (65th) scored the goals in Montpellier. Hütter became the Monegasque team’s new coach in the summer and, with the runner-up title, immediately achieved their best placement since the 2017/18 season, when Monaco also came second. Last season, Monaco missed all international competitions with sixth place.
“This is a huge success for the whole club and of course for me personally. Reaching second place in this strong and competitive league is anything but easy, but over the whole year we deserve it. What makes me particularly happy is that we played very attractive football,” said the 54-year-old from Vorarlberg.

The key to success was “certainly the great last third of the championship. We have won almost all games since the end of February, including all key games against our direct competitors,” said Hütter. In the table, Monaco is six points behind champions Paris Saint-Germain and six points ahead of Lille before the last matchday.

Mbappe scores farewell
PSG lost its final home game of the season against Toulouse 1:3 (1:1) on Sunday. Kylian Mbappe, who announced his departure from the Paris star ensemble at the end of the season on Friday, scored the goal for the hosts in his last appearance in the Prinzenpark for the time being.
According to media reports, Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid. The 25-year-old moved from Monaco to the French capital club in 2017. The 2018 world champion was honored by the fans before the game against Toulouse kicked off. They presented an image of Mbappe in a jubilant pose, framed by a golden laurel branch.
