Fluminense agreed this Wednesday (22/05) to renew coach Fernando Diniz. The coach, who recently completed two years at the helm of the club, signed a new contract until the end of 2025. The announcement was made by president Mário Bittencourt at a press conference after the Tricolor victory over Sampaio Corrêa-MA, at Maracanã, in the World Cup. from Brazil.
“Today we had the pleasure of signing the renewal of Fernando Diniz until the end of 2025. It is our project, for longevity and job stability. To make it very clear, during these two years, we have always been very satisfied not only with the work, but also with the relationship that transcends this issue. We had been talking for a long time, planning this. Today I am happy to say that we are renewing until the end of 2025 with our Libertadores, Recopa and State champion coach. He has already given us so much joy and continues to do so and will continue to do so. We have great pleasure and joy in making Fluminense have this coach. Today, as the crowd’s song says, is a very special night”, said president Mario Bittencourt.
Fernando Diniz returned to the club for his second stint as coach in April 2022. Since then, he has led the team to their second Rio championship, in 2023, and to the Conmebol Libertadores 2023 and Conmebol Recopa 2024 titles.
“The issue of renewal is a reason for great joy. I feel truly honored to be at Fluminense. Since I played, I have been a home that has always welcomed me. In 2019, too. From 2022 to now, with things becoming more harmonious, stable and structured, we have achieved important things with the work of many hands. In the current period, Diniz has accumulated, in addition to the titles, 72 wins, 29 draws and 38 defeats, totaling a success rate of 58.8%.
