Appetite comes with eating. After the recent victory in the CUNY (City University of New York) Athletic Conference tournament, this evening Nicholas Fancellu and Filippo Venditti also won the NJCAA Region 15 title by beating Kingsborough Community College (12-1) on the diamond of home in Brooklyn Monroe College Bronx.

For Fancellu from Grosseto an excellent 2 out of 4 in the box with 1 point batted at home and 1 point scored while for Venditti from Nettuno (awarded a few days as Rookie of the Year in his conference) 1 out of 3 at bat with 1 double, 2 points scored and as many bases balls. Now Kingsborough Community College, which curiously repeats last year’s success again against the same opponent, continues its march with the final tournament of the NJCAA Division III with the dream of reaching the finals which will be played in Auburn also in the State of New York in end of month.

Very happy notes also for the Bolognese Jacopo Tamburini who was ready when he was called on the field as a pinch-hitter in the matches of the Midwset conference tournament which Beloit College deservedly won, beating the University of Chicago twice and the favorite Lawrence University , and now waits to know the opponent in the first round of the NCAA Division II final tournament.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo Morresi from Macerata returns to the Texas San Antonio lineup and stood out behind the plate and in the batter’s box (1 for 3) in his Roadrunners’ 6-3 defeat against South Florida. A negative result shared with Daniel Monti who ended his season at Sonoma State in NCAA Division II in the California Collegiate Athletic Association conference tournament losing in the first round with a score of 8-3 against Cal Poly Ponoma. For the Bolatese, a more than positive season with very respectable numbers (.318 batting average with 27 rbi and 7 home runs in 45 games).

A dutiful parenthesis on yet another victory (the third) in advanced single A for Samuel Aldegheri once again author of an excellent performance (6 innings pitched with 3 hits allowed and 7 strikeouts obtained) in the success of his Jersey Shore Blue Claws by 2- 1 against Wilmington.

Andrea Palmia was born in Bologna on 4 April 1968 and lives in the Emilian capital with his wife Aurora and his two-year-old daughter Lucia. Graduated in Pedagogy with an experimental thesis on ultras groups, he has worked since 1995 as a professional educator with mentally and physically disabled users. Passionate about sports in general and American sports in particular, he has always had a secret dream of being a sports journalist. From baseball played in the courtyard of the condominium with a faded bat to the games at the Gianni Falchi stadium with home runs by Roberto Bianchi and Pete Rovezzi, it was a short step. Fortitude in his DNA, he nourishes an irrational passion for “losers” or rather for “tormented” sporting stories made up of a few highs and many lows.
