Fernando García, “Ferdi”, will be in charge of occupying the position of general director of Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto after the departure of Héctor Galán, who has held the position since the club was founded, twenty years ago. The man from Oviedo has been working at the Pumarín entity almost since its foundation and during that time he has carried out various functions, both in the sports section, having held the position of director of the quarry for many years, now in the hands of Paula Bergel, and in the economic and business, being one of the main people responsible for the administration of the OCB. García has been working side by side with Héctor Galán in the club’s office for more than a decade and will now move to a position of greater responsibility, in which he will have to make decisions and be in charge of the day-to-day running of the team.
This appointment demonstrates a desire for continuity in Oviedo Baloncesto when it comes to restructuring the club after the departure of a person who has had so much weight and relevance since the project began. Fernando García has also been Héctor Galán’s right-hand man in recent years and he knows perfectly the nature of the work that he is going to perform from now on, when preparation for a new season in LEB Oro begins.
