FC Bayern’s Decision: No Return for Flick, Tuchel’s Future Uncertain

Those responsible at Bayern have made a decision.

After the rejections of Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner, FC Bayern is still looking for a coach. There has recently been speculation about Hansi Flick’s return – a decision has now probably been made.

No return

As BILD reports, a Flick comeback is off the table (at least for now). The former national coach is said to have simply not found enough supporters in the management team at FC Bayern. The German record champions are not convinced that the 59-year-old can get the Munich team back on the road to success after his failure as team boss. In addition, Flick’s demand for a long-term contract was met with little approval.

Is Tuchel staying after all?

Meanwhile, Thomas Tuchel seems to be able to stay again despite the agreed separation at the end of the season. As Sky reported on Monday, captains Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller are said to have actively approached those responsible at Bayern in order to advocate for further cooperation with Tuchel.

Accordingly, Leroy Sane, Harry Kane, Eric Dier and Jamal Musiala would also like to continue working with Tuchel. According to Bild information, continued employment of the 50-year-old is again an issue, and some players have spoken out in favor of him. Tuchel, who actually has a contract until 2025, was not officially farewelled around his last Munich home game on Sunday against Wolfsburg (2-0). Sports director Max Eberl did not want to respond to speculation about continued employment.

The agreement for Tuchel to leave the club in the summer had already been concluded when he took office in March, said the 50-year-old. Eberl is annoyed that the search for a successor to Tuchel is still not over. Leverkusen’s master coach Xabi Alonso as well as Germany and Austria’s national coaches Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick do not see their future in Munich. According to the media, former Bayern coach Hansi Flick is considered a candidate, as is Roberto De Zerbi from Premier League club Brighton.

As usual, Eberl did not comment on the names of possible new trainers. “I won’t comment on a single name until we really have the ink dry and the coach has signed,” said Eberl. According to the TV channel Sport1, Flick is “very likely not” to be a coach in Munich again. “Now it’s the case that we obviously have to try to find the best one. We’re having conversations about that,” said Eberl. “We’re having conversations and want to try to find the new coach as quickly as possible.”
