Three top Malaysian footballers are currently experiencing acts of terror. The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) calls on footballers to hire bodyguards.
“If you are a big player, you can consider what foreign footballers do, namely hiring bodyguards,” said FAM President Hamidin Mohamad Amin, as quoted by The Star newspaper.
Three players were attacked within a week. They are Akhyar Rashid, Faisal Halim, and most recently Safiq Rahim.
The first bad luck befell Akhyar due to a robbery. The Terengganu FC player then suffered injuries.
Faisal Halim is the footballer whose fate is the worst. The Selangor FC player was doused with acid and is now in critical condition due to 4th degree burns.
Safiq Rahim is the latest victim of an act of terror. The Johor Darul Ta’zim player was attacked in his car by an unknown person until the rear window of the vehicle was broken.
The Malaysian police are still investigating this terror case. This incident could certainly damage the mentality of Malaysian footballers.
