As is known, Fajar is actually the partner of Muhammad Rian Ardianto in the men’s doubles sector. The two of them proved to be compact and successful, to the point that they were ranked number 1 in men’s doubles in the world and won successive All England titles in 2023 and 2024. Meanwhile, Daniel is the partner of Leo Rolly Carnando.
But at the 2024 Thomas Cup, which was completed on May 5, a neat moment occurred. The coaching team decided to partner Fajar with Daniel Marthin when facing South Korea in the quarterfinals.

Including Fajar/Daniel. Even though they are not a real couple, they are able to show their best performance. Fajar/Daniel played dominantly against Ki Dong Ju/Kim Won Ho and ended up winning easily with a score of 21-12, 21-13.
After the match, many badminton fans praised their performance. In fact, some of them started giving the couple a new nickname, namely AlfaMart (Alfian/Marthin).
“Their performance is good and suitable because individually one front player, one back player, complement each other,” said Aryono when met by reporters at the PBSI Cipayung National Training Center.
Despite his praise, Aryono said that they actually used to exchange partners during training at national training. It’s not surprising that when playing with different partners, Fajar and Daniel can still get along right away.
“We also often do (swap partners) during practice so it’s easy to get into performance,” he said.
So is there the potential for the two of them to be paired together in individual tournaments? Regarding this, Aryono was reluctant to speculate.
“Maybe after the Olympics. We don’t know. Everyone is waiting for the Olympics,” said Aryono.
Meanwhile, Fajar previously said that changes in player composition cannot be separated from the coach’s decision to implement strategy.
“Everyone who decides is the coach, there is indeed a discussion about partner selection options to find the best formula. This is part of the strategy,” said Fajar in his statement via PBSI at that time.
