Exploring the Connection Between Theater and Sport: An Interview with Mario Mascitelli

In the seventeenth episode of “The mirror of Piacenza”, a format created and conducted by the director Nicoletta Bracchi, we talk about theater and sport. The connections between these two forms of human expression will be explored, showing how the theater and it sport can influence each other and enrich people’s lives. It will be an opportunity to discover the similarities and differences between these two fascinating and engaging worlds.

The protagonist, this evening at 8.30pm on Telelibertà, is Mario Mascitelli, actor, director, playwright but also coach and baseball player. Originally from Chieti, Mascitelli is an eclectic and talented figure, between theatre, cinema and “diamond”, who made his debut as an actor in the show “Musica sotto le stelle”, broadcast worldwide by Rai, with Vittorio Gassman and his son Alessandro. In 1996 he formed and directed his first theater company with which he began writing and producing shows. For almost thirty years he has been involved in children’s theater and theater training in schools. Since 2006 he has been artistic director of the Teatro del Cerchio in Parma.

The bond established with the theater made in Piacenza is also very close, especially with the Filodrammatica Piacentina with which he has collaborated over the years on various occasions as a director, actor and teacher of workshops and courses. We remember his direction, for example, for the show “La peste” taken from the novel of the same name by Camus and performed for the first time in the city but also the show “R-esistenza”, sponsored by the ANPI and the Historical Institute of the Resistance. Focus on the sporting activity in which he was a protagonist, above all, as coach of the Italian Junior National Team. He was also manager of Piacenza BC in A2 for a few seasons.
