Serge Gnabry has just found his way back to his old form after a thigh injury. In Madrid he had to leave the pitch in the first half. The same injury puts the striker out of action again – which endangers his participation in the European Championships.

National soccer player Serge Gnabry has to worry about his participation in the home European Championships (June 14th to July 14th) due to another muscle injury. The FC Bayern offensive player was substituted after less than half an hour in the semi-final exit in the Champions League on Wednesday evening and, according to coach Thomas Tuchel, will probably be out for several weeks.

“It’s the same injury again, the hamstring again. I think it’s been going on for a while,” said Tuchel on DAZN after the 2-1 defeat at Real Madrid. Gnabry suffered a similar injury in the quarter-final first leg on April 9th at Arsenal (2-2) and was out for weeks afterwards.

National coach Julian Nagelsmann will announce the provisional European Championship squad on Thursday next week in Berlin. The DFB team’s training camp begins on May 26th in Blankenhain in Weimarer Land. The opening game of the German selection will take place on June 14th in Munich against Scotland.

Star striker Harry Kane was also unable to play in Madrid due to back problems. “He played with pain, it was no longer possible. The back was closed,” explained Tuchel, who also had to replace the two injured offensive players Leroy Sané and Jamal Musiala during the game. “The front four all said: We have to get out,” revealed the Bayern coach.

Tuchel said that this also contributed to the bitter defeat caused by two late goals from Real joker Joselu (88th and 90th + 1): “A little too many injuries, a little too many substitutions, a little too many cramps.”
