The Panthers are attempting to balance their downtime while they wait to find out their next opponent in the playoffs.

Maurice announced that there is a high chance for Bennett, who was predicted to be absent for a few weeks, to start skating again on Thursday and it is highly likely that he will be able to return in the second round.

Florida managed to avoid major damage.

Maurice reassured, “Don’t fear it, especially in the beginning. We gave ourselves two days off the ice at the end of the regular season, but our training continued. It’s still ongoing today, with intensity, as we have some days designated for recovery. Our training will be structured in two-day blocks. We were able to come out strong against Carolina, despite them dominating the first 10 minutes of the game. By the time we faced Vegas, the amount of days off didn’t affect us.”

Reinhart expressed their attentiveness to every game during the playoffs. They believe it is the most exciting time of the year for both players and fans alike. Currently, they are primarily focusing on that particular series above all others.

The first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs was completed on Tuesday as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the New York Islanders 6-3 in Game 5. In the next round, Carolina will go up against the New York Rangers.

“Being on a tight schedule and competing every other day can be physically demanding, but it’s also exhilarating for center Anton Lundell. As the team works towards recovery and regaining energy, this time is crucial for us.”

In Game 5 of the first round, Florida secured a 6-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amerant Bank Arena. They will now await the outcome of Thursday’s Game 6 between the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs (airing at 8 p.m. ET on CBC, TVAS, SN, NESN, TBS, MAX).

In the previous season, the Panthers had a six-day break between rounds after defeating the Maple Leafs in five games during the second round. They were then given 10 days off between sweeping the Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final and playing Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights.

Sam Reinhart, a forward for Florida, as well as many of his fellow team members, closely watched Game 5 between the Bruins and Maple Leafs on Tuesday. A goal by Matthew Knies in overtime secured a 2-1 win for Toronto, preventing their elimination and setting up a Game 6 on their home turf.

The Florida Panthers in Fort Lauderdale, Florida are taking a much-needed break in preparation for their next match in the Eastern Conference Second Round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

“The fact that we don’t have any days off in a row is beneficial,” stated Florida coach Paul Maurice during Wednesday’s practice at the Panthers’ facility. “However, it also means we have to put in double the effort in preparing for two different teams through video analysis.”

In the meantime, Florida will attempt to keep occupied as the series between Boston and Toronto progresses.

Typically, teams competing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs require additional time for their players to recuperate and regain their health after a strenuous series. Despite only losing one game in their series against the rival Lightning, the Panthers put up a tough fight.

The players have likely encountered any variability in performance, so taking a break is beneficial for replenishing energy and recovering from minor injuries sustained during games. This allows them to stay ahead of their physical condition.

Maurice emphasized the importance of time management when taking time off.

During the initial round, center Sam Bennett sustained the sole injury when a shot from his teammate Brandon Montour hit him during the second period of a 3-2 overtime victory in Game 2 on April 23.

In each series, both mentally and physically, it requires a lot of effort,” Reinhart shared. “It presents its own difficulties and we must make the most of moments like this.”

Maurice gave his team a day off on Tuesday. They held meetings and did off-ice workouts on Wednesday. Practice will resume on Thursday for the Panthers.

Maurice stated that Florida has become skilled in the art of patience.

The best-of-7 series currently has Boston ahead with a 3-2 lead.

“You must utilize this chance to rest both physically and mentally, and we are eagerly looking forward to the next challenge, no matter who it may be.”
