Equestrian Success for Swiss Riders in International Competitions

On the side of Italy, Germany or even France, the Helvetii ranked. We also competed in French-speaking Switzerland.

At CSI 4 and 5* of Hamburgafter Steve Guerdat’s victory in the Grand Prix on Friday (read here), the young German Marvin Jungel (22 years old) repeated his triumph in the famous Derby with his good Balou’s Erbin (15 years old) in front of 25,000 vibrant spectators. Without fault at the start (26 real efforts spread over 1250 m.), he had to bar against his compatriot Frederic Tillmann, who knocked down the last wall with Comanche. Jungel then was a little too assertive (2 pts of time).

During the 4* of Montefalcowithout their bar, Alain Jufer and Dante MM would have won the Grand Prix won by Omar Abdul Aziz Uaeal Marzooqi. Niklaus Rutschi was 3rd in the Friday rankings.

A GrimaudBryan Balsiger was 8th in the 3* Grand Prix won by Frenchwoman Marion Trosset (Those nobles), 3rd out of 150 (Pleville Festival) and victorious over 145 cm (Ermindo), among others. Pius Schwizer notably won the victory and 3rd place in the 150 on Friday, as well as a 2nd place on Thursday (Chelsea Z).

The GP 3* of Cabourg was the case of the Irishman Cian O’Connor (Eve d’Ouilly).

Dominik Fuhrer was 4th in the GP 2* of Munich Riem. There was also a victory for Anthony Bourquard and a 2nd place for Martin Fuchs. HAS NimesYannick Jorand ranked 5th in the GP 2*.

Swiss ranked in full

In full, triumph for Caroline Powell at the famous 5* of Badminton. The 51-year-old New Zealander was 7th after dressage and 6th after a magnificent cross-country performance and her faultless jump allowed her to pass the shoulder. She is ahead of the young Irishwoman Lucy Latta, who was there for her first 5*, 2nd with RCA Patron Saint (45.2), and the well-known Englishman at Palexpo Alexander Bragg, 3rd with Quindiva (45.2).

The provisional leader after the cross, the New Zealander Tim Price (Vitali) did five bars on vault, dropping to 8th place (51.2), and his second, William Fox-Pitt (Graffennacht), six bars, plunging to 13th (57.4) for his farewell to Badminton.

Felix Vogg placed honorable 11th with Cartania. The Swiss, 15th after dressage, had moved up to 7th after the cross-country, but three bars on vault increased his score (55.4).

On the side of Marbach, Kerstin Häusermann was 2nd in the 2*-C, Nadja Minder 8th and Désirée Schmidt 10th. In the 2*-L, 4th place for Angelika Dubach and 5th for Michelle Dürst.

And in Switzerland

During this Ascension weekend, there was the NationalAarberg (read here), as well as the Sion Spring Jump over five days and a horse show weekend in Marsens. All this will be reported to you in the June issue! LV and AP
