Bouna Sarr says an emotional goodbye to FC Bayern. The transfer flop is leaving on a free transfer. The reactions of his teammates speak volumes.

Munich – After four years of suffering, a misunderstanding at FC Bayern is coming to an end. Bouna Sarr will be remembered as an expensive transfer flop – but also as a popular teammate who always put himself at the service of the team. Now Sarr is saying goodbye to the Bayern family for the last time in an emotional message, and the reactions of the FCB stars speak volumes.

Bayern misunderstanding ends emotionally – reactions speak volumes

“After four years at the club, it is time for me to say goodbye to you and thank you from the bottom of my heart. In the last four years I have met many great people and it has been an honour to be part of this wonderful family that is FC Bayern,” Bouna Sarr writes in French on Instagram. “I have learned a lot in both good and difficult times and can only be grateful to you for that.”

These were probably the last words of the French-born and Senegalese international as a Bayern player, who experienced many of the dark sides of professional football during his time in Munich. After four years that were overshadowed by many injuries, Sarr’s contract expires in the summer. The transfer flop was recently officially bid farewell, and his last Bayern dream of playing for the record champions once again was no longer fulfilled.

Bouna Sarr thanks FC Bayern after four years

Sarr once cost Bayern eight million euros in transfer fees in October 2020 after a hasty move on the transfer market’s deadline day. The return in four years, in which Sarr reportedly earned two to three million euros in salary, is sobering: 33 competitive games, one goal and four assists. However, the 32-year-old must be credited with not causing any trouble despite his dreary life as a reserve and seeing himself as a team player.

“I wish you all the best and the greatest success that this club deserves and that makes it one of the best in the world!” explains Sarr and ends his post with the last words in German: “Thank you for everything!” He adds the hashtag “MiaSanMia” and three heart emojis. And his former teammates are also emotionally touched.

Kingsley Coman responds to Sarr’s parting words: “We will miss you, bro.” Mathys Tel says: “As a soldier, my brother.” Alphonso Davies and Aleksandar Pavlovic leave several hearts. FC Bayern also expressed their thanks, and Sarr was given flowers before the last home game.

And even Thomas Müller, who announced a transfer shortly before the European Championship, albeit not on the football pitch, has apparently taken Sarr to his heart. “Merci Bouna,” writes Müller, adding two flame emojis. The reactions of his teammates speak volumes and show that the right-back may not have done everything wrong during his time at Bayern. The good memories and friendship with his colleagues are in the foreground.
