Jakarta, TOURISM – Elkan Baggott, Indonesian national team player, still has the opportunity to appear with Ipswich Town in the Premier League next season even though there are rumors about his inability to play there because of his status as an Indonesian citizen.

Ipswich Town have just secured promotion to the Premier League after finishing in second place in the Championship Division, which is an important achievement for the club after the last 20 years.

Elkan Baggott, currently on loan at Bristol Rovers, has been a key part of the promotion, although there are still doubts over whether he can play for his club in the Premier League.

Even though Elkan Baggott has played for Ipswich Town for a long time, his status as an Indonesian national team player presents its own challenges.

Premier League rules require non-EU foreign players to come from countries with a FIFA ranking of at least 70 in the last two years.

Even though the Indonesian national team is currently ranked 134th in FIFA, Elkan Baggott still has the opportunity to play in the Premier League through the homegrown quota.

As a player who has been affiliated with the English FA since 2020, Elkan Baggott qualifies as a homegrown player because he has played for Ipswich Town for a long time from U18 to senior.
