The Spanish Elia Canales won the silver medal in the individual recurve modality at the European Archery Championships which is held in the German city of Essen after being defeated in the tiebreaker against the local Katharina Bauer.
Canales led the duel into the third round after winning 27-26 in the first and tying at 27 in the second. However, Bauer won the next two 27-25 and had it in his hands to close out the victory in the fifth.
She couldn’t do it, as the Spanish won the set 30-29. The final balance of five points forced a tiebreaker that Bauer ended up winning, who had already achieved bronze in 2022 in Munich.
Regarding the fight for the bronze medal, the French Lisa Barbelin, continental champion in Antalya 2021, gave no option to the Italian Tatiana Andreoli and won 3-0 (27-23, 27-5 and 28-27 ).
