Dominic Thiem is at peace with his decision to resign. In the future, the soon-to-be tennis retiree would like to focus specifically on his “heart topic” of environment and sustainability, said Thiem at the 4GameChangers Festival in Vienna.
“It was always a little difficult to reconcile all the traveling and the job as a tennis player,” said the 30-year-old on the podium on the topic of “the future of more sustainable air travel.”
“I’ll never be able to do anything as good as tennis again”
The athlete, who has long been committed to various environmental and sustainability projects, said he was looking forward to doing something “completely different” after retiring after this season. “Unfortunately, I will never be able to do anything as good as playing tennis again,” said the former number three in the tennis world.
But: “At 31, I still have plenty of time to fully immerse myself in a second topic. I want to work specifically on the topic of the environment/sustainability, be very interested in it, learn about it every day and thus take a new path.”
