Chub. At the weekend, Döbelner SC hosted the second day of the first Chemnitz Judo Children’s League season for the U11. The DSC youngsters started in third place with high expectations and a lot of motivation and a large fan club.

Nine clubs from the Chemnitz sports district competed with their teams. In the first encounter, the Döbeln judoka faced the Chemnitz PSC. Pia Schubert (-24 kg) won the first fight, John Schubert (-27 kg) lost the subsequent one. Aaron Döring (-30 kg) was able to win again before Rosalie Margarethe Gasch (-33 kg) also lost – an up and down of emotions.

However, the last three remaining fighters put an end to this – Lenny Maxim Wetzig (-37 kg), Tristan Schilling (-41 kg) and Emilio Ney (+41 kg) got the next three points for their team and the DSC won the first encounter .

DSC wins three team fights

Next the Döbelners met HSG Mittweida. Pia Schubert once again won strongly against her opponent. Leo Herzog (-27 kg) unfortunately lost his fight. Ilja Simijan (-30 kg), Theo Schmidt (-33 kg), Marie Luise Henschke (-37 kg), Ingrid Hanke (-41 kg) and again Emilio won their fights strongly – the second team victory was with a confident 6:1 secured.

After the lunch break, the next Central Saxon duel was against BSC Motor Rochlitz. Magnus Langner (-24 kg) won his fight in the last second. Unfortunately, Thore Matthes (-27 kg) and Flora Erdmann (-30 kg) were unable to get the points for the team. Ilja, Ingrid, Tristan and Emilio, however, won their fights again.

“Ingrid in particular showed great fighting spirit when she defended her Waza-Ari lead (half a point), visibly weakened, but supported by the cheers of her team and the audience, until the end,” reported Lilly Wetzig and Claudia Müller from the DSC. This meant that Döbeln’s winning streak continued unbroken.

Döbelner judoka came in second place

The last encounter was the decisive one – any podium finish is still possible. However, the start against Chemnitz PSV didn’t go as planned. Pia couldn’t win her fight, just like Karlotta Sander (-27 kg) and Theo Schmidt (-30 kg).

Ilja, Tristan and Lenny got the points again, making the score 3:3. The last fight was decisive and the tension was clearly noticeable on the edge of the mat. Emilio, who had already won his three fights in his higher weight class, competed here again. This time he couldn’t prevail against his opponent and the encounter ended narrowly with 3:4 for the CPSV.

JSV Werdau fought for first place, winning all matches. Behind it, however, it became a head-to-head “fight”. The DSC, the CPSV and Motor Rochlitz were tied with 12:4 victory points, so the lower points had to be decided. In the end, the DSC had luck on its side. By diligently collecting points, the judoka kept both Rochlitz (3rd place) and the CPSV (4th place) at bay and were able to receive the trophy for second place. (SZ)
