Defensive talent is definitely dropping out for the Red Devils

On May 28, Domenico Tedesco will release the selection of the Red Devils for the upcoming European Championship. It will look completely different compared to the World Cup a year and a half ago, because a significant rejuvenation has taken place since then. This will continue in the coming years.

After the European Championship, for example, Jan Vertonghen will almost certainly drop out, while other stars such as Kevin De Bruyne (almost 33) and Romelu Lukaku (31) are closer to the end than the beginning of their international career. Fortunately, there is still a lot of talent waiting in the waiting room.

Sadiki definitively chooses Congo

At the back, Tedesco may delete a possible option for the future, because Noah Sadiki has definitively chosen Congo. The 19-year-old Union midfielder, who can also play at the back, came through the Belgian national youth teams up to and including the U20.

However, in October he accepted an invitation from the Congolese U20 and has now also made a first selection for the A-team. Sadiki can make his debut with the main squad in the World Cup qualifiers against Senegal and Togo on June 6 and 9.

Debut with A-team beckons

That is a downer for the Red Devils, because despite his young age, Sadiki already regularly plays for Union. The Brussels team took him away from Anderlecht last summer, where he had already been promoted under Felice Mazzu, but was not in Brian Riemer’s plans. Sadiki has already played 52 times for Union this season.

At Congo he will meet many old acquaintances from Belgian football. Rocky Bushiri, Joris Kayembe and Théo Bongonda also have a past as a Belgian youth international, while Chancel Mbemba, Dylan Batubinsika, Edo Kayembe and Samuel Essende still played in the Jupiler Pro League.
