Decision Pending: Bic Golf Club Owners to Vote on .2 Million Purchase Offer

The owners of the Bic Golf Club will decide, this Wednesday, May 29, whether or not they will move forward with the sale of their shares to businessman Éric Fournier, whose purchase offer submitted includes investments and commitments of $3.2 million.

The special general meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the amphitheater of the Université du Québec à Rimouski.

The shareholders of the Bic Golf Club are invited to a special general meeting to decide whether they will move forward by authorizing the sale of the club to the entrepreneur Mr. Éric Fournier, the only one to have submitted a compliant purchase offer .

Those who will not be able to attend this meeting in person can sign a proxy that was sent to them earlier.

During a press conference held on May 17, the board of directors of the Bic Golf Club indicated that a vote of 66% of the shares will be necessary to ratify the acquisition by Éric Fournier. This is indeed 66% of the shares and not 66% of the shareholders.

“Most shareholders hold 10 shares, but some have 20 or 30. We are optimistic. Several shareholders gave their agreement by proxy after the buyer’s presentation. It is important that shareholders mobilize to vote,” says Hugues Saint-Pierre, of the working committee set up to find partners to ensure the long-term survival of the Club.

I see this as a great opportunity to get involved in the region. The Bic Golf Club is a gem. It absolutely must be preserved,” mentioned Mr. Fournier, who plans to invest $1 million on the site in its first year of operation.

The working committee was made up of the former president of the club, Sylvain Lafrance, then Jacques Plante subsequently, Guy Dionne, Hugues Saint-Pierre, Camille Leblanc, José Arsenault, Annabelle Pineault, Louise Fraser and Régent Saint-Georges .
