Death at 30 of American golfer Grayson Murray, 46th in the world

He abruptly withdrew from a tournament on Friday due to a health problem. American golfer Grayson Murray, 30, died on Saturday, announced the PGA Tour (the main men’s golf circuit in the world). “We were devastated to learn that PGA Tour golfer Grayson Murray died this morning and we are heartbroken to have to announce this news,” PGA Tour boss Jay Monahan said in a statement on Saturday.

Grayson Murray, who won the Sony Open on the PGA Tour in Hawaii last January, withdrew during the second round of the Charles Schwab Challenge, played in Texas, on Friday, citing a health problem without further details. He reached 46th in the world, his best ranking, after his victory at the Sony Open.

In an interview for Golf Channel in 2017, the American golfer spoke about his battles with anxiety and depression. He announced last January that he had started treatment for alcoholism in recent years, notes RMC Sport.
