De Ligt and Muller Accuse Real Madrid of Referee Conspiracy in Champions League Semi-final Defeat

Thursday, 9 May 2024 – 12:30 WIB

VIVA – Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt doesn’t seem to have accepted the 1-2 defeat to Real Madrid in the semi-final second leg of the Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu, Thursday morning WIB, 9 May 2024.

In fact, Bayern took the lead through Alphonso Davies’ goal in the second half. This goal put Bayern ahead 3-2 on aggregate.

However, Real Madrid managed to score two goals in cash in just 4 minutes before the end of the match.

Joselu became the hero of El Real’s victory thanks to his goals in the 88th minute and 90+1. Through a brace from the on-loan Espanyol striker, Madrid secured a 2-1 victory in the second leg of the semifinals.

Bayern actually had a chance to equalize the score in the final minutes of the second half, when de Ligt received a through pass.

It’s just that De Ligt was judged to be offside by the linesman who had raised his flag without VAR being involved. In the replay, the line judge’s decision was deemed a blunder, so the Muncih players launched a strong protest.

De Ligt, who was the victim, immediately launched a verbal attack regarding this matter. He gave a strong insinuation to Los Blancos as the team with the most Champions League trophies.

“I don’t want to say that Real Madrid is always accompanied by a referee, but that made a difference in this match,” said De Ligt as quoted by Movistar+.

“Real, when you think they are dead, breathe their last breath… that’s why they have 14 Champions League trophies,” he added.

Thomas Mueller also said the same thing. He accused there was a conspiracy to benefit Real Madrid.

“Marciniak? He didn’t watch the video. He didn’t give himself the opportunity to see it,” said Muller as quoted by RMC Sport.

“I experienced it a few years ago, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s two goals. But that was before VAR.” he concluded.
