Dallas Mavericks Extend Head Coach Jason Kidd’s Contract Long-Term After Playoff Success

The Dallas Mavericks have extended the contract with head coach Jason Kidd long-term after reaching the NBA playoff quarterfinals. The club of German international Maxi Kleber announced on Monday that the 51-year-old had signed for “several years”, but did not provide any specific information about the term.

Kidd, NBA champion at Dirk Nowitzki’s side with Dallas in 2011, has been primarily responsible for the Texans’ sidelines since 2021 as the successor to master coach Rick Carlisle.

In two of three seasons he led the Mavs to 50 or more wins in the main round. Nowitzki is an advisor to the franchise.

Most recently, the Los Angeles Lakers are said to have shown interest in Kidd, the two-time Olympic champion was an assistant coach for the Californians from 2019 to 2021. In 2020, Kidd celebrated winning the title with the record champions. Dallas will play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the quarterfinals.
