Dallas Cowboys Eyeing Zay Jones to Strengthen Wide Receiver Corps for 2024 NFL Season

The Dallas Cowboys are trying to put together a team competitive enough for the 2024 NFL season and believe they must improve their wide receiver corps to aspire to the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

According to Bleacher Report, the Cowboys invited Zay Jones, former Jacksonville Jaguars player, to evaluate the option of adding him to the team. The roster spot is available since Dallas terminated Martavis Bryant’s contract.

Jones spent the last two seasons in Jacksonville and had 1,144 yards with seven touchdowns while catching 116 of the 185 passes Jaguars QBs threw his way. His NFL career began in 2017 as a second-round pick of the Buffalo Bills.

One of the best games of Jones’ NFL career came against the Dallas Cowboys. In Week 15 of the 2022 season, the East Carolina graduate caught six of the eight passes thrown his way, but three were touchdowns. Total, He racked up 109 yards in the process as the Jaguars won 40-34.

The Cowboys overhauled their receiving corps by parting ways with Michael Gallup to clean up finances and free up cap space. According to Spotrac, The Dallas franchise has $4.5 million in cap space.

Right now, the NFC East team features CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, rookie Ryan Fluornoy, Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin and Jalen Brooks. Other names within the team who will fight to keep a spot for the start of the campaign are Racey McMath, Tyron Johnson, David Durden, Jalen Cropper and Corey Crooms.
