Could Gio Urshela be on the Move? Interest from Four Teams Ahead of the Trade Deadline

Gio Urshela only played 18 games before being injured and placed on the Detroit Tigers’ disabled list. However, his versatility makes him an interesting piece ahead of the trade deadline.

Once again, the Tigers are in a complicated situation, with a record of 18 wins and 17 losses, in second-to-last place in their division, 5.0 games behind the Cleveland Guardians.

It is certainly one of the most complicated divisions in baseball, with an attractive team like Cleveland, the good start of the Twins and the surprising Kansas City Royals.

This opens the possibility that they will seek to get rid of Gio Urshela in a trade and there are four teams very interested in obtaining the services of the Colombian player.

Given DJ LeMahieu’s physical problems, the Yankees need reinforcements for the third base and Urshela would be a key piece to add to the team’s infielder corps. He already knows the organization, is respected by his teammates and has the full trust of manager Aaron Boone. He played from 2019 to 2021 with the Yankees and during that time he averaged .292, with 41 home runs and 153 RBIs. Injuries have affected his performance in the last two years, but he is a proven player at the highest level.
