Colorado and Carolina advanced in the play-offs

The Carolina Hurricanes and the Colorado Avalanche are in the second round of the National Hockey League (NHL) play-offs. Carolina defeated the New York Islanders 6-3 on Tuesday, getting the necessary fourth win and now faces the New York Rangers.

Colorado also won game five against the Winnipeg Jets 6-3 and is through. Meanwhile, the Toronto Maple Leafs avoided elimination and forced a sixth game against the Boston Bruins.

The Canadians won 2-1 after overtime, the Bruins lead 3-2 after victories. The Nashville Predators also earned another game by beating the Vancouver Canucks 2-1.
