Colapinto, who got lost in one of the fast laps and braked just inches away from hitting a wall, qualified ninth ahead of Amaury Cordeel (Hitech), which means that the Argentine driver will start from second place on the inverted grid in Saturday’s Sprint behind the Belgian.

The credit of Pilar, 20 years old, seeks to establish herself in the category after a bittersweet start to the season in the competitions held in Sakhir, Jeddah and Melbourne. For now she is 13th in the drivers’ championship, far from the leader, the Barbadian Zane Maloney, who has 62 units.

The classification had the Brazilian as its star protagonist Gabriel Bortoleto (Invicta Racing), who took pole position ahead of the British Oliver Bearman (PREMA Racing) and from the French Isack Hadjar (Campos Racing).

Bortoleto took the lead thanks to a lap of 1m28s044, leaving Hadjar behind by just 0s026. The Invicta Racing driver then reduced the time to beat on his next attempt with a time of 1m27.739s. He also improved Maloney (Rodin Motorsport), who was 0s271 seconds off the leader’s time.

After returning to in the pit lane so that the cars could put on a new set of Pirelli Supersoft tires, the drivers returned to the track with 12 minutes remaining and this time it was Bearman who established the best time by setting the timers at 1m27s11 and leaving his teammate in second place.
