Chris Paul Faces Uncertain Offseason with Multiple Teams Interested

You didn’t even have to ask Chris Paul when the Golden State Warriors said goodbye to their season in Sacramento. Retirement was not part of his plans. The point guard, after leaving Phoenix and rebounding in Washington, has had another good season in the San Francisco Bay Area. He now faces the offseason with uncertainty and several teams have already knocked on his door.

Marc Stein collects in his newsletter that Lakers and Spurs are among the teams most interested in signing the point guard. Paul has one more year on his contract but it is not guaranteed. If he rescinded that option, the Warriors would not be able to re-sign him, leaving him as an unrestricted free agent.

At 39 years old, it would be normal to think that, at most, Paul qualifies for a mid-level exception of a maximum of 13 million dollars annually.
