Charles Lee to Become Head Coach of the Charlotte Hornets: A Rising Star in the NBA Coaching Scene

Charles Lee, assistant to Joe Mazzulla in the Boston Celtics, has sealed a 4-year commitment to become the next head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, reported journalist Adrian Wojnarowski of the outlet ESPN.

Lee, just 39 years old, has been climbing positions in the NBA to become one of the most sought-after assistants in the entire competition, who is endorsed by the franchise’s new president of operations: Jeff Peterson.

He will continue on the Celtics bench until the end of the current 2024 playoffs. They are currently playing in the Eastern Semifinals with a 1-0 lead against Donovan Mitchell’s Cavs.

Trained at Bucknell University (Pennsylvania), he came to the NBA in 2014 to be part of the technical staff of the Atlanta Hawks between 2014 and 2018. He later spent time on the Milwaukee bench where he won the championship ring in 2021, and this Last summer he signed with the Celtics to become Mazzulla’s main assistant.

Lee signs for the Hornets to replace the departure of Steven Clifford and with the complicated task of reviving the franchise, out of the playoffs for the last eight seasons.
